We will take you through the safety measurements and precautions taken while driving with a trailer.
There are several reasons why people take trailer training courses i.e. for personal or work.
Our priority is to ensure all our student are taught all the necessary skills needed to safely and confidently tow a trailer while on the roads.
CARAVAN TRAINING COURSES ABINGER – To drive with a caravan attached to your vehicle you must first complete a caravan training course.
This trains you how to safely and confidently manoeuvre your vehicle and maintain total control at all times.
Before starting our caravan training course we conduct an assessment to talk through the course and structure the lessons based around your requirements and focusing on areas you struggle with thereby ensuring you can overcome them and confidently pass the test.
There are various precautions and checks required to safely drive a vehicle and illuminate potential hazards and as part of the training we demonstrate the difference between driving with and without a caravan.
Our highly trained instructors will train you on how to safely and confidently drive with a caravan and also perform various manoeuvres.
We will also train you on how to drive on different road types and weather conditions.
On passing the test you will receive a B+E license that enables you to legally drive with a heavy caravan.
HORSE TRAILER TRAINING COURSES ABINGER -
Our course provides you with the necessary skills to safely drive with a horse trailer in a variety of conditions.
Our instructors start by taking you through the course content and structure and how it can be adjusted to meet your personal requirements and needs.
As part of the training we will demonstrate how to perform safety checks on your vehicle to ensure it is road worthy.
You will be taught how to confidently and safely manoeuvre your vehicle without causing harm or distressing the animal.
Our highly trained instructors will not only ensure that you pass your test, they will ensure by the end of the course you are highly skilled with the ability to confidently drive with a horse trailer and safely carry out all the manoeuvres.
When you have passed the test you will receive a B+E license that allows you to legally and safely drive with a horse trailer.
Although the test has been around for a number of years now, a huge number of people are completely unaware of it.
Drivers that are not aware of the law and drive are unlicensed and therefore uninsured.
Many choose to ignore the law and make a decision to drive unlicensed and tow illegally.
If you intend to tow it is recommended that you take the test to avoid any misinterpretation by you, or potential problems with the police or your insurers.
The information listed below is not intended to be a definitive statement of Law.
What is the B+E entitlement? Category B+E allows vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM to be combined with trailers in excess of 750kgs MAM.
In order to gain this entitlement, new category B driving licence holders have to pass a further practical test for B+E. (There is no Theory test).
Car licences held before 1st January 1997. Drivers who passed a car driving test before 1st January 1997 retain their existing entitlement to tow trailers until their licence expires.
This means they are generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes MAM.
However if a driver has had to take a retest after the date shown above, they will have lost their automatic entitlement to tow and will need to take the B+E test, if they wish to tow larger trailer combinations.
Car licences first obtained since 1st January 1997. Drivers who passed a car driving test on or after 1st January 1997, are limited to vehicles up to 3.5tonnes MAM towing a trailer up to 750kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn’t exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle.
You will need to pass an additional B+E driving test if you wish to tow a caravan or other trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.
